When you buy a new computer, it provides you with the best performance that is possible within its processing limits. However, after a certain time of usage, most of the computers become dawdling and sluggish.
It takes more time during startups, programs takes longer time to open and switching among the programs is not as quick as it used to be before.
Tips to Make Your Computer Run Faster
If you are noticing such traits in your computer, do not worry; just try these simple tactics to tackle the slow speed of your computer.

Free Up Hard Disk Space
For optimum functioning of your computer, you should free up at least 15% of your hard disk space.
To ensure that, just check the properties of the hard disk, where you can see the pie chart that depicts used versus free space available on your computer. If it is almost full, you will need to remove the unnecessary files and programs.
Removing Unused Programs
To do so, just click on Control Panel available in Start Menu, and then click on Add or Remove Programs. Immediately remove all the useless programs as they might be consuming lot of processing power.
However, there might be some programs about which you may not know and you will need to do some research to understand whether they are useful or not.
To do so, just right click on the column title above the program list, click on more, and then select Last Used on option. Now you will be able to see the programs in accordance with time when they were last used. The programs that have not been used for a year or so can be appropriate for deletion.
Still, do not delete any program of which you are not sure of, as they can be important for the functioning of your computer.
Preventing Unnecessary Startups
This will help in speeding up the booting process of your system. There are certain programs that are launched during the startup and continue to run, eating up your computer`s processing power.
To prevent these programs to run during startup, go to Start menu and click Run. Type msconfig in the bar and press enter.
Then click on Startup tab, now you will see a list consisting of all the ticked programs that load during the startup of your computer. You can now manually uncheck the programs that you do not want to run during the startup of your computer.
Delete all the Temporary files
For doing so, double click on My Computer, and then click on your local drive. Now open the Windows folder.
Next open the folder named temp. Now delete all the files in this folder that are older than the present date and after doing so, empty your recycle bin.
Defragment Hard Disk
It is very simple to perform; just double click on My Computer and open the properties of C: drive. Tap on the Defragment Now option under the Tools tab to defragment your drive. Rinse and Repeat for other drives.
This will reconfigure your hard disk for maximum competence.
It is a de-cluttering tool which is provided by Windows. It searches for all the unnecessary large files on your system which includes program installers, temporary internet files and more.
For disk cleanup, go to Start menu, then click on All Programs, then Accessories and then click on Disk Cleanup under the System Tools.
Anti Virus and Anti Malware
Do install Antivirus and Anti Malware program on your system, as they will ensure lesser viruses, adware and bugs on your computer, making the computer work comparatively faster.
Checking Disk Errors
Disk errors also slows down your system. To check for disk errors, double click on My Computer and open the properties of the C: drive. Then click on Check Now under the Tools tab. Rinse and Repeat for other drives.
Add More RAM
Your computer may need more RAM (Random Access Memory) if it is slowing down every time you open a large file, or while doing numerous things at once.
Speed up your computer by adding extra RAM memory chips that are readily available in the market.
Note: Never delete files that are named as system32 on Windows, as they are critical for the functioning of the operating system in a proper manner.
